Enthiran review

Enthiran review

I watched enthiran on the 4th day of its release. This movie is easily the best movie of the year, no wonder why its hyped so much and unlike its predecessors Raavan and Kites this movie has really lived upto its hype. In fact the movie has lived more than its hype. The movie is an intelligent amalgamation of Science and the Masala. The reason why this movie cannot be a terminator or transporter because the Viewership or the target audience is limited to tamil cinema. So it has to expand its wing to cater all groups of the tamil society. Any Ramesh, Suresh or Gopi will watch the Terminator but John or Nicholas or Steve will not have the same urge to watch enthiran. I cannot even imagine if there is any other actor who could have shouldered the entire movie like what Rajni did in this. One of the few directors who have explored Rajni's acting skills completely is Shankar. Aishwarya is so beautiful, but she is just a doll in the movie. Nothing can be said about the graphics or effects as world’s top professionals were engaged. I feel Sujatha should have been given more credits than just name on the credits. Am sure Shankar will certainly miss him in his future projects. Music just fits in. Nothing great or ever green.

Individual performances :

Rajni rocks throughout the movie in his acting. The Villain role reminds him of his older movies like Netrikann and he has given a new dimension to Villain role. Rajni proves he is a great actor once again.

Diaglogues are crispy and intelligent, especially in scenes where the policeman asks the address and the chitti gives him the ip address and also when he answers to the questions posed when Chitti is introduced to the forum. Sujatha! simply great.

Lyrics of the songs are more than good. Music is sufficient, but nothing great. Shankar deserves all the kudos for making such a brilliant movie. His dedication and hard work is simply outstanding. Camera work is simply fresh and neat.

On the whole Enthiran is Mandhiran..

Buddha Story

There is a story of Buddha which also applies to the 6 of Swords. It relates the tale of the day Buddha met an ascetic who had practiced austere living for 25 years. Buddha asked him what his reward had been for all of his hard work and effort. The ascetic proudly told the Buddha that now he could cross the river by walking on the water. Buddha let the ascetic know that this wasn't a significant achievement for all of his hard years of effort because he could all along have crossed the river on a ferry for one cent. Buddha had a sense of humour.

Neeya Naana - Expensive wedding

The latest episode of Neeya Naana featured extravagant expenditure in weddings. I would support the group which was speaking for the extravagant expenses.

I don't understand that why would Neeya Naana always takes up one's personal choice as a social issue. First of all, What is an extravagant expense in wedding? Who determines that? What is their capacity to determine? You can call something is costly only when you know the acceptable standard price and that's an individual priority. Most of the people who spoke against making extravagant weddings were all victims of expenditure at sometime or the other. If they wouldn't have been victims, they would have spoken from the other side. I feel that marriage is opportunity to express your hospitality, forget differences, give and take gifts. Its a wonderful feeling. I don't see anything wrong in anyone shelling few extra pennies. Yes, I do agree that one should know their limits but its up to them to find the limit.

Marriages are made in heaven but it still happens on earth. Lets make the gods to come to our wedding that's my motto.

Ayan Movie Review

If you are someone who enjoy a good masala flick then you are going to relish Ayan. The film starts with the hero smartly escapes the customs checkup and smuggles a movie cd and from there its all action through out. The movie stringently follows all the rules of tamil cinema. A Super smart hero, his godfather guardian, A heroine only to add color to the songs with no connection to the main plot, Not so smart cops, etc... the only missing thing is a separate comedy track.

As far as the storyline is concerned, two groups involved in smuggling out of which one tries to outdo other and wants to establish the supremacy and how the hero with his smuggling skills outsmarts the villain forms the part of the story embedded with songs, dance, fights, emotions etc... All together its a fine blend of Hollywood thought in a fine masala package.

This film draws inspirations from movies like Vantage point, Blood diamond, Catch me if u can etc. Nevertheless it is a good attempt. I appreciate the director for not doing the copycat stuff. Everyone has performed their role to perfection. But I still wonder why such a beautiful Tamannah was wasted. Surya has done the job neatly and Prabhu chips in perfectly. Ponvannan does a neat job as police officer. The choice of villain could have been better, his lip sync goes awry at times.Jegan, Karunas are also in the cast. Cinematography is good, Editing is good, Music is OK.

The Verdict: Definitely watchable, Nice movie for the summer. I didnt understand the relevance with the title.

Satisfaction Vs Achievement

I started to sleep after a stressful nightshift and my brain was still awake. Surprisingly, my brain began to talk to the pillow. The pillow was inquiring about my wellness of the day. My brain started to crib about the day’s bad happenings. At some point of time the pillow had to interrupt and said “Stop that. Why are you so pessimistic?” That was hard to take. Pessimistic. I was never a pessimistic person. i don’t see the empty half in a glass of water. The pillow said “Is that just sufficient. A person who knows psychology can never fail a psychic test”. True, the actual test is not just that simple. Pillow continued, “Life is simple. Just live it.” The brain asked “But how, what will happen to ambitions, the landmarks which want to cross. Importantly, my promises to keep before I sleep.” The pillow asked “what are they”. The brain listed all that I wanted to do from my childhood and never achieved any. The pillow asked “is that what you wanted to achieve.” The brain said yes. “Will you be satisfied then ..?” the pillow asked. The brain said it will try. The pillow asked “Do you have a hobby? How often you’ve rejected your own idea? How many things have you assumed rather than understanding the actual?” The brain started to ponder. The pillow continued “Great people don’t compromise. They don’t work for achievement; but it’s their passion. Satisfaction is just the state of mind. State of contentment. But passion is a burning desire it never sleeps. It never recognizes milestones. Neither hatred nor flattery falls in the sight of passion. Passion leads to achievement and achievement leads to glory. Passion is hunger and satisfaction is contentment.” The brain started to think “What am I working for? Money, glory, passion or just the need? Am I really passionate about something..?” The pillow stopped but brain started to think “is this simply my inability to cope up with the change or should I create something of my choice…” To be continued….
